This moai head is like the "tip of the iceberg" in that most of it lies underneath the surface. With some heads being over 10 feet tall, you can just imagine the size and weight of the whole statue!
Their ears are all long to resemble the tribe known on the island as the "Long Ears." Notice the European features. How could people from Europe find their way to this island and not remember the journey?
Most of the almost 1000 statues bear a resemblance to each other. With the exception of the ones which never left the quarry, all of the statues faced inland.
